Two Friends Drop ‘Pacific Coast Highway’ Out Now VIA Spinnin’

TWO FRIENDS DROP ‘PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY’

 OUT VIA SPINNIN’

TAKEN FROM FORTHCOMING EP ‘OUT OF LOVE’

Untitled.png

The Friends are back, and this time they’re bringing the noise with the announcement of a new single as well as a three track EP, out Feb 24th. ‘Pacific Coast Highway’, released today via tastemaker imprint Spinnin’, is the first single to drop and is available to stream now.

STREAM: ‘PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY FEAT. MAX’

Few can dispute the success Two Friends have had so far in their career. With an astounding 20 Hype Machine #1’s to their name, as well as support from the likes of Tiesto, Krewella and The Chainsmokers (who gave their Blink-182 remix a spin at their Coachella and Ultra Miami shows last year), Two Friends have all but conquered their self-entitled ‘soul house’ genre. With the release of ‘Pacific Coast Highway’, they show off a new side of their dance-pop tendencies.

Featuring the smooth vocals of MAX, a producer/vocalist from NYC who’s been turning heads thanks to his wildly popular originals and features, Pacific Coast Highway is an ode to the blissful escapism that romance brings. With a playful topline, heartfelt lyrics, and pumping horns, this is certainly one of Two Friends’ strongest originals to date.

A word from the guys,

We grew up on the California coast literally a minute from the iconic highway so this song has always meant a lot to us.  Some songs come together super quickly- this one took a few years but stood the test of time.  MAX is absolutely killing it with his solo act as well as with his new duo Party Pupils –  been a pleasure to get to know him through the process! Cannot wait for the rest of it to come out- stoked this gets to be the song to introduce it all.”

Fans can look forward to another single before the full EP release on Feb 24th. Stay up to date with all new Two Friends announcements via their socials below.

JNTHN STEIN Releases Debut EP ‘Changes’

JNTHN STEIN RELEASES DEBUT ‘CHANGES’ EP

OUT NOW ON ETCETC MUSIC

cuvm_JNTHNSTEINChangesEPCoverfinal2000x20002--1.jpg
Brooklyn-based producer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist JNTHN STEIN delivers his debut solo EP ‘Changes.’ A unique fusion of live instrumentation and innovative production that walks the blurred line between electronic and live music, STEIN’s ‘Changes’ is out now on etcetc Music.

Listen: JNTHN STEIN – ‘Changes’ EP

The title track on the EP – ‘Changes’ – deploys animated, upfront synths, delicate piano and a re-pitched vocal to immediate effect. STEIN’s inspirations from jazz, hip-hop and electronic music are evident in the production, and indeed the entire EP, with his grasp of melody only complimented further by his skills in arrangement.
‘CMPRSSN’, the second track on the EP, swells in peaks and troughs, fusing smooth Rhodes piano ostinatos into lush atmospheres and live percussion. STEIN’s musical ability is clear, with rich aesthetics and textures combining to form a complete sonic experience – soulful electric guitar, bass riffs and synth lines work in harmony to create an orchestral wall of sound, topped only by a searing vocal from the man himself.

Buy: JNTHN STEIN – ‘Changes’ EP

Emitting a more pop-orientated sentiment, STEIN’s trans-Atlantic collaboration with London-based R&B artist BXRBER ‘Silvertown’ is a smooth and soulful dose of surging instrumentation and groove. The vocal hook and guitar licks resonate and reverberate in perfect unison, building up to an unabashed, high-energy third act.
STEIN continues to establish his solo identity as part of the globally renowned production collective Team Supreme, which he co-founded. Producing alongside peers Grammy-nominated Djemba Djemba and Mr Carmack, 2017 is set to be the year that STEIN announces himself to a global audience. As an ambassador for Ableton and their Push 2 controller, as well as receiving extensive support from BBC Radio 1 and Beats 1 Radio, it’s clear that STEIN’s talent is making its mark.

ALEX L’ESTRANGE RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘NOTHING TO HIDE’ + EP ‘AUCHENFLOWER’ OFF BACK OF HOLY HOLY NATIONAL TOUR SUPPORT

ALEX L’ESTRANGE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE NOTHING TO HIDE

AND DEBUT EP AUCHENFLOWER

 alex-lestrange-promo-pic-1

Exceptional young songwriter, producer & multi-instrumentalist Alex L’Estrange has today announced his new single Nothing To Hide, a gritty mystery of a track lifted from his debut EP, Auchenflower, both set for release on December 16.  Following several vibrant singles which have gained the attention from a bunch of large tastemaker blogs including DIY (UK) and Hilly Dilly (US), L’Estrange’s debut EP Auchenflower is a clear, confident collection of songs, named for the sleepy Brisbane suburb in which they were written.  L’Estrange has just finished traveling around the country supporting Holy Holy on their Darwinism national tour and will launch his EP with a hometown show at Black Bear Lodge’s Last Party Before Lockout on January 28.

Nothing To Hide is hazy, evoking a nebulous feeling of early Tame Impala, or even The Beatles of Revolver times. L’Estrange’s voice sits defiantly atop an intoxicating, guitar-driven instrumental that pulls towards the magnetic, soaring chorus. L’Estrange reflects on the track, It was written on one of those strange days that felt more like a dream. I’d been working away at this tune, I knew it had something about it that I’d never felt before, but I didn’t find out about what that really meant until later that night. That evening, a stranger visited me at the house I was living at in Auchenflower. I ended up going back to her mansion that she lived at alone. She divulged her life story. When I finally got back home, the song made sense. It was for her.”

The video for Nothing To Hide is a delicate gem, framing the track with finesse. Directed by Corey Donaldson (Cloudfall), the clip depicts a young woman living in a lifeless world, inhabited by mannequins. Eventually conforming, she transforms into a mannequin herself, leaving the audience to wonder whether she can maintain a sense of individuality in a world where everyone looks the same. Of the clip, L’Estrange says, “It’s clear that deep within her mind there is an original voice struggling to get out, she’s questioning her environment, and trying to understand why she feels so disconnected…(Lead actor) Cecilia Griffiths’ incredible expression really created the atmosphere of the clip and brought an air of mystery to the role. She has an innocence that is both charming and devastating.”

L’Estrange has arrived at a conclusive new juncture with the upcoming release of his debut EP, Auchenflower. The thoughtful collection of songs is natural, personal; the result of years of practice, years of listening, writing, and learning. Lurching guitars thread themselves around towering choruses, while quieter moments are buoyed by oblique acoustic arrangements and introspective lyricism. For the most part, Auchenflower was self-produced, however Australian music industry veterans Matt Redlich (Holy Holy, Ball Park Music, Ainslie Wills) and Andy Aubin (MTNS) both played a part in the production of the stunning debut. Reflecting on the ideas explored on Auchenflower, L’Estrange says, Each song tackles a different thing.  Some of the themes are focused inwards and concern feelings of fleeting love.  Some of them concern others around me, like troubled relationships or exciting, enigmatic people.  I’m often more interested in the listener’s interpretation of a song – A song like Nothing to Hide evokes a whole range of different moods and atmospheres within different people.”

L’Estrange has been on the road with Holy Holy on their Darwinism national tour this month, wrapping up at The Triffid in Brisbane on the weekend. Excited to be on the road playing live, L’Estrange enthuses, “Playing live has shed a whole new light onto the songs. I’m lucky enough to have some of my best friends (and some of the best musicians), play on stage with me. My line up at the moment usually consists of Sam Cromack and Dean Hanson (Ball Park Music) on guitar and bass, and Zac Moynihan (Mid Ayr) on drums. We try and recreate the feeling and atmospheres of the songs in a live setting without just replicating the recordings. We change stuff up and play off the crowd. Each show is different and unique.”

Auchenflower will be out December 16

Parcels shares new single + EP due January 27

PARCELS SHARES NEW SINGLE

HIDEOUT
EP DUE JANUARY 27 VIA MAISON KITSUNÉ

unnamed-9.jpg

LISTEN: “Older”
Parcels are back today to share the third single from their forthcoming EP, Hideout, due out January 27th on Maison Kitsune. “Older” is a step away from the band’s usual driving, disco feel and looks to a more intimate side of the five piece. Playful guitar and bass lines paired with lyrics full of self doubt make the track a bittersweet contrast. A desperate mood can be felt over the breezy tune, leaving an uncertainty that is worth revisiting.
Check out “Older” above and stay tuned for the full details on the forthcoming EP.
Praise for Parcels:

“Prepare to want to dance the way nobody has danced since flares were invented”
– NOISEY

“Parcels’ avant pop is wholly engrossing yet difficult to define.”
– CLASH
“inspires daydreams of Daft Punk frolicking through colourful 70s roller discos.”
– WONDERLAND

“Parcels make slick, funky synth pop morsels that melt in your ears”

 STEREOGUM
“begs to be played on repeat”
– THE LINE OF BEST FIT
About Parcels:
Parcels is Patrick Hetherington, Louie Swain, Noah Hill, Anatole Serret and Jules Crommelin. The five piece formed in 2014 during their final year of high school and recorded their first, self-produced EP. Well received in Australia and Europe the debut represented the first recording ever produced by its members, where wide synth soundscapes and an electronic rhythm section meet lively guitars and five part vocal harmony. Shortly after their first release, Parcels left Australia for Berlin where they currently reside. On stage, their live set is consistently energetic: a different, more organic spin on their tracks provides an electronic disco channeling the soulfulness of early Chic. Captivating, vital, and musically impressive.

RYAN HEMSWORTH CELEBRATES 50TH SECRET SONGS RELEASE WITH NEW EP FROM CELADON CITY

SUMMERYOUNG
 NOW AVAILABLE

Today, Ryan Hemsworth’s Secret Songs is celebrating the 50th release from the label/community with a ssh050: Celadon City – Summeryoung. The Summeryoung EP is the latest offering from outsider Oklahoman producer Ethan Strange who goes by the Pokemon inspired name Celadon City, which recalls a city from the original Gameboy game. Leading up to the EP release, Strange shared two singles “She’s My World” and “Natural.” The EP is a lush and nostalgic soundscape that was inspired by reflecting on the necessity of his imagination during his youth growing up in the sparse world of suburban Oklahoma.

About Celadon City:
Celadon City is the moniker of 21-year-old electronic artist Ethan Strange. Strange hails from a small suburb of Edmond, Oklahoma, a quiet place that allows isolation from a busy and frustrating world. Sparked by an early discovery and passion of the outdoors and games like Pokemon, Strange’s sonic creations attempt to emulate the feeling of getting happily lost within exciting, welcoming, and whimsical new worlds.
Now after releasing his debut full length, Earth OST, Celadon City returns with his new EP SummeryoungSummeryoung is a collection of movements and reflections that spark the memory of his younger years. Celadon City wanted to take what he learned from writing Earth OST and explore more upbeat styles and sounds. Strange says, “This EP was formed from the recent unstable moments of my life. I always found time to sit down after long days at school and write skeletons of songs. It wasn’t until the summer that everything connected for me and I found the right moods for the EP. Emotion is always a central part in my songwriting, and so constantly I am trying harder and harder to deal with those moments and hopefully molding it into music that I can learn and grow from.”

ZEDS DEAD RELEASE NEW CLAYMATION MUSIC VIDEO FOR “TOO YOUNG”

ZEDS DEAD SHARES NEW VIDEO FOR “TOO YOUNG (FT. RIVERS CUOMO AND PUSHA T)”

CURRENTLY ON WORLD TOUR

NORTHERN LIGHTS AVAILABLE NOW VIA DEADBEATS

WATCH: “Too Young (Ft. Rivers Cuomo and Pusha T)”

 screen-shot-2016-11-15-at-7-00-08-pm

Two weeks ago, Zeds Dead released their debut album, Northern Lights. Today they are back to share a new video for their single “Too Young”. The video is a fittingly whimsical claymation visual for the track, and centers around the internet and social media’s effect on the youth. The single itself is built around an irresistible piano line and features a candy-coated hook from Rivers Cuomo paired alongside verses from Pusha T. The unlikely pairing is a perfect illustration of the facility with which Zeds Dead blend disparate influences in a unique and compelling way.

On the inspiration for the new video, director Chris Ullens says, “Zeds Dead’s “Too Young” has a cool style: it attracts you because it’s catchy and solid, but then slaps you in the face with the darker lyrics. So I wanted to emulate that in the film: make an attractive and colourful world, but then comment on darker sides of our ever more “social-media connected” society. And as always with stop motion, it was hours and hours of work fuelled by true passion, so thanks to all who made it possible!”

Northern Lights released on October 14th via Zeds Dead’s own Deadbeats label. In addition to Rivers Cuomo and Pusha T, the album also features Jadakiss and Styles P, Charlotte OC, Elliphant, Diplo, and Twin Shadow amongst others. Additionally, Zeds Dead are continuing on The Northern Lights tour which features a massive run of worldwide dates as well as a newly conceived stage show.
