Jarreau Vandal kickstarts a busy summer with a rush of huge announcements. Kicking off the countdown to the third instalment of the ‘Vandalized Edits’, Vandal has dropped the rework of Childish Gambino’s ‘Redbone’ – transforming the 2016 funk slow-jam into a woozy, club-ready banger.
Cooked up in the festival season of 2015, the Vandalized Edits are Vandal’s “alter-ego” – a space and persona to create music inspired by – and made for – modern day DJ and club culture. Honing his mellow production, and rich blend of influences of dance, hip-hop, R&B and jazz, these sharpened, fierce tracks mark Jarreau Vandal as one of the most versatile and standout producers working today.
In a short documentary film, Vandal delves into his personal journey into music, his influences, and the drive behind the Vandalized Edits and his work.
Announcing a huge collaboration with TRNSPRNT, Vandal will also be releasing an exclusive, DJ- tailored bumbag. The collaboration marks a unique use of contemporary street-culture solely for the travelling DJ – with an extra boon of coming complete with metallic USB drive packed with the latest Vandalized Edits, and three exclusive bonus tracks.
ABOUT JARREAU VANDAL
Jarreau Vandal, aka Ellroy Jarreau Uyleman has been an exemplary talent for the Soulection and Hear This collectives ever since he burst on to the scene some four years ago. Each and every new release and project has provided us with dynamic, exceptional production.
Born in Maastricht, raised in Amsterdam, Vandal grew up in a musical family, surrounded by cassette tapes full of jazz, soul & funk, and learning to produce from his grandfather. He went on to become member of the Los Angeles based collective Soulection, releasing the round-breaking white label EP in 2014, which followed laying down standout sets for Soulection’s sold out Sound Of Tomorrow European tour – headlining shows at KOKO and Warehouse Project in October 2015.
After being named one of 2016’s One to Watch by the likes of Complex and Jamz Supernova (BBC Radio 1Xtra) and featured in Spotify’s Viral Global, US and 1Xtra Record Of The Week’ for ‘Small Talk’ – 2017 began with the acclaimed pop-dance crossover ‘Someone That You Love’, with Olivia Nelson – and these latest announcements sets Vandal up for a defining year.
SPRDLX and its sub-label TRNSPRNT was founded by Anita Stam, Perzia Malayeri and Gabriël Ercicia. The brand is the brainchild of a unified quest to emulate contemporary life-style through accessories, a pastich of modern day street-couture.
