Following the release of his album American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story a month ago, Kevin Abstract is back today to announce that he will be headlining the Death of a Supermodel Tour in early 2017. The tour will see Kevin play fifteen shows across North America over the course of a month, starting on February 22nd and concluding on March 25th. The announcement comes shortly after Kevin threw a free “prom” last Thursday at which he performed alongside special guests Jaden Smith and The Neighbourhood for a packed out crowd of fans. Check out what happened at prom here: Kevin Abstract’s Prom. Tickets for the Death Of A Super Model Tour are on sale now at american-bf.us/tour/.
American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story released on November 18th via the Brockhampton label. Leading up to the release, Kevin shared a cinematic visual for his single “Empty” that spread rapidly online and gained the attention of fans and critics alike. Earlier in November, Kevin shared his deeply personal song “Miserable America” which earned him praise from The New York Times. later in the month, Kevin performed new songs at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival with an intricate stage set up including cheerleaders in uniform and kids sitting on bleachers reminiscent of a high school gym. Leading up to the album’s release, Kevin spoke with The Fader for a Gen F feature. Recently American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story was included in Noisey and Vulture’s top albums of the year lists, and “Empty” was included in Pigeons and Planes top music videos of the year list.
Kevin Abstract is the de facto leader of the hip-hop boyband Brockhampton. He recently left his home state of Texas, moving to Los Angeles along with his Brockhampton compatriots. At the young age of 20, he has already developed a concrete image both onstage and online and is commanding attention due to his progressive music as well as his carefully curated visual presentation. After releasing his acclaimed mixtape MTV1987 in 2014, he set out to make his followup – working tediously on many versions of what turned into his new album. The album is executive produced by Michael Uzowuru and produced by members of Brockhampton.
