STREAM: Frost God
It’s been a huge year for Yung Lean; besides kicking it off with his eclectic sophomore albumWarlord and embarking on a sold out world tour, 2016 also saw Lean co-write/produce a track on Frank Ocean’s Blonde, star in Calvin Klein’s #mycalvins campaign, launch his own Sadboys Gear brand, co-design a sneaker for Eytys and drop a full length punk album together with Gud as Död Mark – to name a few highlights.
But it was also the year that finally gave Jonatan Leandoer the opportunity to tell his own story regarding what went down in the spring of 2015: the tragic loss of a colleague, his own period of hospitalization in Miami and the long road to recovery that followed.

This convalescence included the initial sketching and songwriting of what would become Frost God– a mixtape of tracks recorded between the fall of 2015 and summer of 2016 that reflects on the above, as well as his more current experiences of growing up and being on the road for months in a row; pop songs of love and longing, rap bangers about life’s sweet nothings.

Frost God includes features from A$AP Ferg, Drain Gang member and on-stage companion Bladee, Goth Money’s Luckaleann and Adamn Killa, and production by WhiteArmor, GUD and Shlohmo, as well as newcomers Acea and Woesum.

This release is a gift for the day ones who can’t wait to see what’s next, as well as all the new admirers Lean has gained over the past year; something to unleash your feelings of 2016 to, and then step into Lean´s 2017 world with a clear mind.

Frost God features Yung Lean’s own artwork, and is available via year0001 across multiple streaming and download platforms now. Stream the mixtape above, and check below for the video for “Hennessy & Sailor Moon” as well as full details on Frost God.

More about Yung Lean:
Yung Lean 2016. Turns 20. Releases sophomore album, Warlord. Embarks on a world tour.

At 16, Yung Lean lived online and rapped about being online. Approaching 20 he is a young adult claiming his place in the world, as a person and as a rapper. Accordingly the lyrics are growing more personal and complex, relevant to his new life experiences.

Yung Lean and SadBoys have always used music to push boundaries using hip hop as a premise to explore other facets of modern music and to create new hybrids. His SadBoys producers are developing alongside him, underlining his progress with their trademark sound which has grown gradually darker and more assaultive, yet is complemented by glistening melodies and a playful attitude.

Although everything originates around music, the group’s impact has extended almost equally to fashion: as style icons and through their own exclusive designs and collaborations. Their aesthetics mirror the music with their unique blend of high and low.
